Summer 2008 Training
"I worked with Roger for four
summers.  We focused on
speed, conditioning, agility,
strength and plyometrics.
The workouts were very
challenging, but enjoyable at
the same time.  He pushed me
to my limits constantly.  His
methods of training definitely
helped me play basketball at
the Division 1 level.  As a
point guard, I was in great
shape and felt faster than any
other player on any team we
played.  I gained more
confidence and my level of
play increased as well as my
speed.  I would definitely work
with him again"
- Jasmin MacAlpine
Basketball Player

"Jazz could 'hang' with any
point guard in the country in
terms of defending them
laterally and with her
quickness, especially when we
played those 5 top 25
programs. We NEEDED Jazz
on the opposing teams point
guard"

-Oakland University Head
Coach Beckie Francis
Are you tired of having great skill but lack the speed to make
big plays, not being physically strong enough, and just not
quick enough to make the impact during games that you
expect?
“Give me 18 hours of your time this
summer and you WILL be stronger, faster,
quicker, and better conditioned than ever
before”

You see this all the time.  An athlete sprinting and just gets
beat out to the ball.  If only a step quicker…A moment later,
again the athlete sprints, this time arms flying all over the
place.  You know if the arm technique were improved speed
would be improved too.  You have mentioned it time and time
again to “fix your arms”, but because you are the parent and
they are your child, you know this “barrier” will be hard to
break.

What about this athlete… the athlete who has great skills, but is
easily pushed around, limiting their effectiveness in the game.
If only a bit stronger, they could fit off the defenders and hold
their ground, allowing them to showcase their great skills.

Or the athlete who doesn’t have the “wind to finish games…

***************************************
WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO YOU?
***************************************
You probably know that more athletes are seeking professional
help to improve their physical performance ($4 billion was
spent on youth sport coaching in 2000!).  Even athletes who are
already fast, strong, and quick seek additional training.
Eventually, you will face someone faster, stronger and more
skilled.  Your current preparation and training will only take you
so far.

Speed, strength, and quickness can be improved, but it does
require some commitment.  In my experience, athletes begin
seeing noticeable changes between 12 and 18 sessions.  The
training sessions helps prepare the athletes physically allowing
them to play at a higher level.

I was a college athlete.  The preparation needed for the college
level was about 10x that of the high school level.  While in
college, the athletes who spent the least amount of time
preparing were the ones who eventually let the game pass
them by.

*********************************************************************
FAST OR SLOW, STRONG OR WEAK, ALL ATHLETES MUST
PREPARE PHYSICALLY FOR THE DEMANDS OF THEIR SPORT, OR
ELSE….
*********************************************************************
Each sport has unique physical demands.  The longer you play
a sport during a given year, the more preparation is needed.
Athletes who play their sport more than 4 months out of the
year and do NOT participate in any physical preparation training
are more likely to sustain an injury towards the end of the
season.

Athletes who have trained with me have seen noticeable
changes in their strength, speed, conditioning, and overall
confidence.

I am the first to admit, my training program is different.  To most
parents and coaches, my methods for improving performance
seem odd.  Let me give you an example.

****************************************************************
WHAT ATHLETES HAVE IN COMMON WITH THE “KARATE KID”
****************************************************************

Improving quickness is the number one request from parents
and athletes.  I have a series of exercises designed to improve
the abilities that lead to improved quickness.  At first glance,
the exercises seem odd.  However, the end result is increased
quickness and explosiveness.

If you have seen the Karate Kid, you probably remember when
Daniel was working in the backyard and had to wash cars, sand
the deck and paint the fence.  After hours of pain and sweat,
Daniel finds out to his astonishment doing those “chores”
enabled him to learn basic defense techniques of karate.
My training program is very similar.  Athletes perform exercises
that seem to be “pointless,” but to their astonishment, they
begin noticing differences when they begin beating other
athletes in sprint races and making plays they were only a step
away from previously.

**********************************************************************
A UNIQUE TRAINING SYSTEM ADOPTED FROM THE PROGRAMS
USED BY OLYMPIC AND PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES…
***********************************************************************
I spend thousands of hours a year, yes thousands, reading,
talking to other coaches, going to conferences, driving hours
on end to meet with coaches face to face, all so I can learn from
their experience, bypass their learning curve, and use the best
from their program and incorporate it into mine.

A large part of my program is based on the training system that
produced close to a dozen Olympic level sprinters (out of a
group of 30, and all of whom began training in their teens).  The
program develops explosiveness, speed, and strength that will
make a huge impact when stepping on the playing field and
court.

During the past several months, athletes who participate in my
training programs have found :

Only a limited number of athletes will be able to participate in
our summer training program.

Every training group has a maximum group size of 6 athletes,
yes 6 athletes!  No other summer camp offers training with this
low of a coach to athlete ratio, and we offer it at a much more
affordable cost.  In fact, I have seen other “performance
programs” offer training with groups of 16, at the same cost as
my training program!!!  Yikes, talk about a safety nightmare and
the “ability” to individualize training for the athlete.
**********************************************************************
YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE QUALIFIED COACH WHO HELPS
YOUTH ATHLETES IN THIS AREA.
**********************************************************************
All training sessions will be lead by me, Roger White.  In case
you haven’t kept up on everything going on over the past
several years, I have quickly become a nationally recognized
performance coach, presenting research to the largest
scientific organizations in the country, given talks on speed
development for NIKE, and have been asked to speak about my
training programs for athletes who are coming off of an injury.
Not to mention I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in
Exercise Science, and am a Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist (CSCS).

****************************************************
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER TRAINING?
****************************************************
Training will only be offered 3 days out of the week at the
following times:

Tuesday: 1pm
(full), 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm (full), 6pm (full)
Thursday: 1pm
(full), 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm (full), (6pm full)
Saturday:
11am (new time), 12pm(full), 2pm

**************************************
HOW MUCH WILL TRAINING COST?
**************************************
Individual training with me would cost you $120 per hour.  I also
agree with you this is a very hefty sum of cash to fork over for
60 minutes of training.  With semi-private training, session
costs are only $20 each!  For the price of a meal at a restaurant,
athletes can receive high quality, first class training with one of
the best coaches in the country.

Where are sessions being held?  Do I need anything special?

All sessions will be held inside the Premier Training Center,
located at 51379 Quadrate, Macomb Twp.  The “PTC” is north off
of 23 Mile between Hayes and Romeo Plank Roads.  All
sessions will be indoors.  Part of the session will be on turf,
and the other part will be on a hard surface.  No special cleats
or shoes are needed.  Regular running shoes or sport shoes
work great.

When do sessions start and end?  How many sessions are
offered?

Sessions are offered in either 12, 15 or 18 sessions.  These
sessions start June 16 and run through August 2.  You can train
before and after those dates, but the offer I am about to
announce must be used between those dates.  Unlike other
times of the year,
summer sessions purchased will NOT be
carried over for future use.

***************************************************************
SUMMER EARLY REGISTRATION SPECIAL & PAYMENT PLANS
***************************************************************
For those who sign up before June 1 and pay in full, you will
receive a 10% discount on session cost.  Not only will you
ensure your limited enrollment, but you will also save money
too!

Payment plans are also available.  Half of the training cost must
be paid by June 1, with the other half due by June 16.  No
discounts are available when using the payment plan.

“WHAT IF I AM SIGNING UP MY CHILD FOR OTHER CAMPS?”

Summer sports camps provide kids opportunity to work on
skills and meet new friends.  Ask yourself how many hours your
child plays sports during the school-year, and how many hours
dedicated to improving performance?  Are the additional
summer camps really what your child needs?

I am a firm believer kids need to spend time away from their
sport to avoid burnout.  My training camp provides a fun and
safe environment for kids to develop physically without risking
“burn out.”
